The Road Safety Tech Mandate: Is Your Fleet Ready?

Where things stand

The rules are moving. The question is who moves first.

Post-Brexit, Britain runs its own type-approval regime, and the driver-safety tech the EU now requires isn’t mandated here yet. That’s shifting: through its 2026 National Road Safety Strategy, the DfT has consulted on mandating 18 safety technologies in GB, driver drowsiness and distraction warning systems among them.

This session covers where UK driver-safety regulation is heading versus where the EU already sits, what the GB proposals mean in practice, and how leading operators turn this technology into a safety and cost advantage across their whole fleet, not just new vehicles.

For operators, the pressure is already real

  • Mixed-age fleets
  • Rising duty-of-care expectations
  • Insurers wanting camera evidence
